江苏理工学院坐落在江南历史文化古城、美丽富饶的长三角腹地、全国文明城市和中国具创新力城市——江苏省常州市。学校创建于1984年，是以工为主，理、经、管、艺、教、文等多学科协调发展，具有鲜明特色的省属普通本科院校。学校以应用型本科人才和职教师资培养为主，硕士专业学位研究生培养为辅，2008年获得教育部本科教学工作水平评估优秀成绩，是江苏省人民政府决策咨询研究基地、全国职教师资培训重点建设基地、江苏省职业技术教育科学研究中心、江苏省高等职业教育教师培训中心。

江苏理工学院有机械工程学院、电气信息工程学院、计算机工程学院、化学与环境工程学院、汽车与交通工程学院、材料工程学院、商学院、外国语学院、艺术设计学院、教育学院、人文社科学院、数理学院、国际教育学院等13个二级学院；设有职业教育研究院等5个科研单位，中国有色金属工业再生金属学院、港中旅酒店管理学院等多个行业学院。开设58个本科专业，全日制在校生近18000人。学校建有现代化的图书馆和工程实训中心，馆藏纸质图书160万多册，中外文电子图书190万多种。现有教职工1300余人，其中专任教师近900人，具有高级职称500余人，教师队伍素质高、结构合理。学校具有10多年与德国梅泽堡应用技术大学等国外高校进行“2+2”、“3+1.5”跨国本科人才培养以及与德国、英国、挪威等高校联合培养硕士研究生的经验。学校课程安排合理，坚持贯彻理论课程与实践训练相结合的办学理念，注重工程训练和专业实践能力的培养。多年来，我校毕业生一直保持着97%以上的高就业率。
